Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi
‘A passion for human development and service to humanity’, best describes Dr. Jayanti S Ravi’s mission. A versatile, multi-dimensional human being - career bureaucrat, writer, thinker, researcher, innovator and practitioner par excellence are some attributes that describe her.
She has a Masters in Nuclear Physics from the University of Madras, has attended a leadership program at the London School of Economics, has an MPA from Harvard University and a PhD (in Technology enhanced Education) from the MS University, Baroda. She has authored case studies, regularly publishes papers in International Journals, guides doctoral students and is a visiting Faculty at Harvard University. She has been a column writer with DNA Newspaper and Frontline, a leading fortnightly. She is a performing vocalist in the classical Indian style of music, both Hindustani as well as Carnatic.
Her book on transforming Higher Education develops a Multiversity model, conceptualized and designed by her. She is credited with initiating many transformational changes in the Education, Labour and Rural Development Sectors. She has co-authored a book "Symphony of Fraternity" on Social Enterprise for Human Upliftment.
She has worked as the DDO, Sabarkantha, Collector, Panch Mahals and as the Director, NAC in the Prime Minister's Office. Now as Principal Secretary and Commissioner, Rural Development, she is contributing to the design and implementation of the new paradigm of integrated rural development in Gujarat. She is championing the Swachch Bharat Mission for Rural Sanitation in the State. Her multidisciplinary, innovative and creative approach to problem solving has given outcomes and results that have successfully worked across various sectors.
